I Formed You In the Womb
By Elizabeth Brénainn
A children's book
Beginning with your spark...
...You begin to grow
I have always been filled with an awe for God. Specifically, how God, Who has made the vast expansive universe and wonders of all things, takes thought of human beings. It is the formation of a soul from the perspective of God, with all my knowledge of how we are made. Both from scientific understanding...
...and understanding God.
Here are the verses the poem was based on:
"For before I formed you in the womb, I knew you..."
- Jeremiah 1:5
"For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!
How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you."
- Psalms 139:13-18
This book was also dedicated to being scientifically accurate in how our bodies are formed. It was my intention to show God's intentional design. For I have known God long enough to know He is deliberate in all things. Down to the very nature, order, and biology of our bodies. I am looking for a dedicated illustrator who can capture the childlike wonder of God, as well as His heart. Below is the Poem.
I Formed You In
The Womb...
by Elizabeth Brénainn
Beginning with your spark, you begin to grow
as your light enters through, flowing to and fro.
Each neuron is woven, meticulously tuned.
Your brain, your spinal cord, all to contain you.
Each layer intentional, sewing you knot by knot,
Building your foundations, cell block by cell block.
As the weeks go on, I form you in your veins,
containing your life, your blood, your DNA.
Each genetic factor the ability to express you,
when given the opportunity, it will manifest true.
As your cells multiply, they form to help you.
Each knows its duty, its job, and what to do.
The next big stage, important in its place,
the sensation of touch, beginning with the face.
It is here that I pause, and I hold your cheeks hand in hand,
that you can feel Me face to face,
that I am that I am.
My image you shall bear,
in intimacy and truth
One day you’ll find Me again,
when you leave this womb.
We may part for a bit,
for life will come and go.
Know I will always seek you;
To be seen,
to be known.
For I am Who formed you
in your mother’s womb.
I will always find you
hand reaching out towards you.
For it was My hands who held you first,
My eyes, you looked into
I was the first you beheld
…and Who beheld you.
It was Me who hovered over
uttering the truth;
“Let there be life, you are good,
and I will always love you.”
